2008 Single Moms' Breakaway & Boutique
A New Day, A New Beginning
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"
– Isaiah 43:18,19
Bright and early they arrived, one by one, until 400 single moms filled the breakfast room
with their laughter and excited smiles. The day had just begun, and there was much, much
more ahead. After coffee and sweet fellowship, our moms enjoyed a free shopping spree in
our fabulous Clothing Boutique, filled with great clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry and gifts!
The day continued with a time of worship and interpretive dancing. Several speakers followed
as they encouraged, informed, and entertained the moms with their talks, and practical tips
on doing life as a single mom. A prayer room remained open all day as faithful volunteers
prayed one-on-one with several ladies. As the moms sat down to an elegant and delicious
5-course luncheon, the Sheridan House staff and volunteers stood by to serve and shower
these precious moms with the love of Jesus!
The moms were encouraged to start "A New Day, A New Beginning" in their journey with God,
and in their parenting. As we warmly hugged each one good-bye at days' end, the smiles and
the tears on their faces left no doubt that this day had indeed been a "New Beginning."
