“Bring Children and Families Back Together”
Our residential treatment program is for “at risk” boys and girls in the
6th, 7th, or 8th grades only. The program is designed to
intervene in the life of a child before the dysfunctional behavior becomes a habitual lifestyle.
Our residential program is unique in that the children attend public school and
return home on weekends and holidays. The average stay at
Sheridan House is ten to twelve months.
We offer assistance to families with children experiencing significant
difficulties in their lives which may include:
- School suspensions
- Defiance
- Acting Out Behaviors
- Disruptive Family Behavior
- Academic Failure
- Peer Conflicts
- Immaturity
- Poor Self-Control
- Disrespect
Objectives:Through a proven behavior modification program,
the children develop essential life skills, learn to be responsible for their actions and
choices, and dramatically improve their behavior. We provide training in:
- Interpersonal Skills
- Discipline
- Conflict Management
- Social Skills
- Communication
- Problem Solving
- Self-Control
- Anger Management
- Self-Respect
Parents:A significant aspect of our program is our support
and care of the parents. We provide parent training, support groups, and individual counseling.
Our goals for parents are to:
- Develop a deeper, more meaningful, parent/child relationship
- Strengthen the parent's effectiveness to care and nurture their children
- Understand the unique roles of the mother and father in raising children
- Learn skills in implementing discipline through consistent and effective consequences
- Develop effective communication patterns
Program Cost:Sheridan House Family Resource Center is an
interdenominational, faith based, organization which is privately funded through
charitable donations. We are able to offer help to families at a truly affordable fee,
substantially below our cost. The weekly fee is $200.00 and reductions are available
based on need.
